VIM DP-R Plate Rolls

Offset quality, digital simplicity

VIM has combined state of the art technology with years of research, to develop and manufacture the VIM DP-R product line: Digital Imaging plates that expand the pro-tability of press oerings by providing higher quality output alongside longer print runs.

Features & Benefits

Superb print quality

VIM DP-R’s top silicone layer has been developed to sustain harsh abrasive conditions without developing scratches on the plate surface. As a result our plates exhibit perfect repeatability throughout the print run without the typical micronic scratches that develop on other plates after a few thousand impressions.

The extra smooth and uniform surface of the VIM DP-R’s silicon layer produces outstanding ink repelling qualities. This feature is of extreme importance to the image reproduction quality as it significantly reduces ‘blanket toning’, which typically develops throughout the course of the print run. Moreover, VIM DP-R’s ink repellency feature is responsible for its excellent skin tone and flat tone reproduction.

VIM DP-R’s base polyester layer is designed to withstand strong pulling forces without deformation to its dimensions.  This high dimensional stability enables accurate positioning of the plate on the drum, resulting in perfect image registration per plate and between each of the four colours. This high dimensional stability also prevents any core indentation marks on the plate and the print.

The very high laser sensitivity of the middle ablative layer gives the VIM DP-R’s most distinctive reproduction qualities. Superb uniformity of the imaged area, very high density printing and minimal dot gain fluctuations result in significant expansion of the press colour reproduction performance.

Profitable for the shop

The VIM DP-R top silicone layer’s abrasive resistance significantly extends the length of the print runs that can be economically printed on your Direct Imaging press. The high dimensional stability of the plate insures no wrinkles at the end of the roll where stress on the plate is higher, due to the small roll diameter. As a result the VIM DP-R rolls are usable to the very end of the roll, and can often provide you with 40 imaged plates.

The high sensitivity of the middle ablative layer enables you to reduce the laserhead intensity without compromising any of the plate’s qualities. This intensity reduction can extend the usable lifespan of a press laserhead by up to 25%, typically providing an extra one to two years of operation before a head need to be replaced.

Friendly operation

The VIM DP-R plate’s ablative and silicone layers are designed to enable complete detachment of post-imaging residual particles. Further, this feature enables perfect post-imaging cleaning without any need to alter or modify the built-in cleaning system of the Direct Imaging press.

No less important than the removing of post-imaging residuals from the plate is the prevention of such particles from contaminating the laserheads and other mechanical parts. The inter-layer structure of the VIM DP-R ensures that all post-imaging debris resides on the plate until removed by the built-in cleaning system. This feature ensures no contamination whatsoever of either the laserheads or other press mechanisms.

Last but not least is the high contrast between the imaged aera and the dark colour of the plate. This contrast enables the operator to easily inspect the imaged plate while on the drum.
